Weekend trip to Idaho

Last Friday, after Paul's graduation, we headed to Idaho for his Dad's wedding. Porter did wonderful on the ride up and slept about half the way there. Towards the end of the drive he got a little fussy, but we stopped at a hospital and let him run around for a bit and stretch and he did perfect the rest of the drive. That night, we drove to Nampa for Paul's Dad Doug and his fiance Dorthey's wedding dinner. They had a barbecue at his fiance's son's house. We were a little late leaving and so we arrived pretty late, but everyone was still there and we had a really nice time getting to know Dorthey's family. They were so friendly and inviting and it was so much fun to see how well the kids played with Porter. They were so sweet to him and he had such a great time there. After the dinner, Paul, Porter and I headed to Doug's house to spend the night. We were so excited to see Cerra (Paul's sister) who moved to Arizona with her husband Dillon about 5 months ago. We have missed them so much and it was so much fun to see Cerra again and catch up a little bit. She is such a wonderful aunt to little Porter and he knew exactly who she was when he saw her...it was like she had never been gone. That night Porter had an EXTREMELY hard night. He screamed bloody murder for about 3 hours straight. I ended up taking him on a little drive (where I ended up getting pulled over for making an unlegal U turn..thankfully the cop was amazing and let me go without a ticket). About 3 minutes after the cop left, Porter threw up EVERYWHERE. Poor little guy. So we rushed home, got him cleaned up and tried for the next couple of hours to get him asleep. Grandpa Doug even tried to sleep with him on the couch for a while which ALMOST got him to sleep.. but not quite. He finally fell asleep for good at about 2AM. He woke up about 2 times and then got up for the day at 7:30AM..which does not make for a long night at all. Poor little guy. We captured some pictures of him when he was finally sleeping. He fell asleep in the bean bag and looked super cute.
Saturday was the big day. We were super tired Saturday morning because of our lack of sleep the night before, so it took us a long time to get up and going. The ceremony started at 2:00PM at the Nampa, Idaho chapel and we made it there a little late, but luckily they had not started yet. The wedding ceremony was absolutely beautiful and they looked so happy together. After the ceremony, Paul and I took little Porter to Doug's property that he owns and let Porter explore around a little bit. Porter loved his little cat and the geese. After that, we went to visit Paul's best friend from high school, Adam. It was a lot of fun to meet him and his family. They were wonderful people and it was so much fun to hear all of the memories from Paul's high school days.Adam then came with us back to the chapel for the reception. The reception was absolutely gorgeous and the chapel was decorated so beautifully. They served lunchmeat and cheese sandwiches, salads, chips and drinks and their wedding cake was beautiful and tasted even better. Doug and Dorthey made such a beautiful bride and groom. We really enjoyed ourselves thoroughly. After the reception, even though it was getting pretty late, we went to go and visit our wonderful friend Kathleen and her husband Wally. It had been a very long time since we had seen them last, and it was so much fun visiting with them. They had recently moved and so we got to see their new house which was amazing. I wish that we could have spent some more time with them, but I am happy that we were able to at least see them this trip. That night, once again, Porter had an AWFUL night. Again he screamed like crazy for about 4 hours straight. It was so hard because there was nothing that we could do to calm him down. He also ended up throwing up twice. Poor little guy. Paul and his friend Adam gave him a blessing and within 2 minutes after the blessing was given, Porter fell asleep and slept the rest of the night. WOW! The priesthood is so wonderful and I am so thankful that Paul holds the priesthood. Poor little Porter hasn't thrown up for about 3 weeks since he has been on his new acid reflux medicine, so hopefully this was just a fluck and he will feel better soon.
The drive home went wonderful. Porter slept the first three hours and was excellent the last hour and a half. We only stopped once to stretch and eat. It was so much fun catching up with friends and family on this trip. I wish we all lived a lot closer. And CONGRATULATIONS Doug and Dorthey! We love you!
