FIRST ULTRA SOUND!

So today Emily had her first appointment with the doctor and we got our first super, mega, turbo, ultra sound!





YAY!


It's still pretty crazy to me that we have a baby and that it's growing and that it's still so small and we've seen it and...and...and...Yeah, just wow.


Exciting!

Is it the shoes?!

So, a couple of years ago I came across one of the fanciest, schmanciest pair of shoes I'd ever seen...These, are those shoes:

After some research and investigation, I learned that these were an Asian exclusive pair released as a limited edition Hoop Pack in 2006. I then later found out that these shoes were nearly impossible to find...I've only seen these twice on eBay (and some fakes of them, too) but not in my size...So, through some more investigation it seems that these weren't even made in my size (14US).

So I had almost come to terms that I would never be able to get me a pair of this totally righteous sneaks.

But then, I had an epiphony! I would make my own! Don't laugh just yet, let me explain...While these particular shoes were never released in the US and never in size 14, there was a 100% white variation of the shoe that was, these ones, shown here:

So I found a pretty cheap pair of these on eBay and then set out to learn anything I could about customizing shoes.

Just recently I finished the first shoe and hope to be done with the second shortly, this was my result using professional-quality leather dyes and paints:

I wish these pictures did it better justice, as I like my version even better than the originals that started this whole thing! The hues and contrasts and textures on mine are AMAZING in real life!

Hopefully next time you see me it'll be in my new supa' shoes! :P

Fun on the 4th of July!

First of all on this Independence Day, I want to let everyone know how proud I am to be an American! We have so many freedoms and opportunities here that most people around the world couldn't even dream about having! I think having traveled to many countries around the world, seeing those who are so less fortunate than us here, makes me even that much more greatful for this free land.. the wonderful UNITED STATES OF AMERICA!!!!

Today was an absolutely wonderful, perfect, day!! Paul especially had been looking forward to this day for at least the last couple of months. He made sure that we were stocked full of fireworks, and couldn't wait until the evening

to light them all. We started the evening off with an absolutely delicious barbeque, and thanks to my wonderful mommy, we had all the food that anyones stomach could desire...we had big fat juice hamburgers, hotdogs, bratts, chips, salads, fruit, vegies, etc. and finished the meal off with some strawberry and pudding shortcake! YUMMY!! I decided to be a little cheesy this 4th of July and made sure that Paul and I had matching 4th of July T-shirts! Haha..

It was fun!

After everyone was done eating, we all went to the front yard with blankets and chairs and anticipated the start of the awesome firework show that Paul had prepared for all of us. We were especially excited for the homemade firework that Paul had made.

He is going to get mad at me for putting the video on here because he didn't like the way it turned out. I LOVED IT, so here it is! :) What a wonderful 4th of July we had!

There is finally hope for Paul's sinus problems!!

You all know that Paul has been struggling with sinus problems for quite some time now. Every minute of every day it seems like Paul is blowing the gazoonzies out of his nose. He has also been constantly clearing his throat because of all of the excess mucus buildup, and seems to be shooting big lugies everywhere he goes!! The poor guy has been constantly congested for as long as he remembers. We have tried every over the counter cold and allergy medicine known to man, and Paul has also been on several antibiotics to try and cure him of this nasal tradegy, but absolutely nothing seems to be working. Finally I made an appointment for him to see a nose, throat and ear specialist. Paul went to the appointment yesterday and we FINALLY FOUND OUT WHAT'S GOING ON UP HIS NOSE!! The specialist, Dr. Palmer, was awesome!! Paul received a cat scan where we found out that Paul has a Polyp which is an abnormal growth of tissue (tumor) projecting from a mucous membrane. We also found out that he has a deviated septum. They told Paul that he was an excellent candidate for surgery but we were told to first try some prescription medication which should shrink his polyps, but if that didn't work surgery would be next. We were also told that Paul needs to get tested for allergies, so next Wednesday we will take him in to get tested. I am so relieved to finally find some answers as to why Paul has been struggling so long with his sinuses! Thank goodness for good doctors! :)

~FUN AT BEAR LAKE~

Paul and I had been planning on going on a little road trip to Moab for some time now, but something always came up to stop our plans from happening whether it was that one of us was sick, we had too much homework, a family gathering was taking place, etc. It seemed like the fates were against us. We finally decided that last weekend would be the perfect time to finally have this little "getaway". After realizing though that the temperature had risen here to mid nineties, we decided that heading down south to Moab where the temperatures usually hit triple digits was not a very smart decision. A tradition that has been in my family for generations is going to Bear Lake every summer. Paul and I decided that we would go there for the weekend instead, and we are so glad that we did. We had so much fun! We haven't been camping for a long time, so it was fun to pitch our tent and be out in the beautiful nature. After first arriving in Bear Lake (after the 2 1/2 hour drive), Paul and I were frustrated to see that Rendevous Beach Campground (the campground that my family ALWAYS stays at) was full and they weren't letting anyone else camp there. I guess that is what we get for not calling in ahead to reserve a spot. After driving further down the lake, we found a campground called "Ideal Beach". At first we thought it looked a little ghetto, but decided to stay there after all, and it ended up being the perfect place to camp, right by the shore of the lake. Near our camp site, there was even a big boat made to look like the Bear Lake Monster.. kinda fun! We pitched up our tent, ate some chicken and potatoe wedges for dinner, and then took a romantic and relaxing walk down by the lake. It was so peaceful and cozy to see all of the cabins along the shore lighted up. On the way back to the tent from our walk we were amazed to see how incredible and bright the stars looked. It is amazing when you get away from the city, how many stars you can see and how clear they are. It was AWESOME!! The next day was awesome. We rented paddle boats from the campground that we stayed at, and had a grand 'ol time floating down the lake. You really need strong leg muscles to peddle those boats. We had so much fun! After our boat adventure, we headed down to downtown Garden City and did a little shopping. I love looking at all of the fun souvenirs you can buy! After that, we headed home. Even though we weren't at Bear Lake very long at all, we had a blast. I love spending time with Paul and we had a very relaxing and fun time together!!
