Robert Lee Kennedy

January 21, 1972- August 29, 2013

Paul’s older brother Robert passed away unexpectedly at the age of 41 on August 29th, leaving behind his wife and 4 young children. Losing someone that you love is always full of indescribable pain and sorrow, but through all of the heartache, it has been amazing to see the love shown us by our friends and how our family has really pulled together to support each other.  I am so grateful for the love of our Savior, Jesus Christ, and it is so very consoling to know that death is not permanent. Because of the atonement of Jesus Christ, we can live with our families and loved ones beyond this life. We can receive strength to endure those times of grief, knowing that loving reunions lay ahead.  We love and miss you Rob, but we know that we will soon be with you again.

My husband made a beautiful website in memory of his brother full of pictures and wonderful videos of him.

Robert had a beautiful viewing and graveside service. So grateful for the support of friends and family.  So many peopled love Robert, and it was so special to see all of the love that was shown for him.  Roberts absolute favorite college football team was the University of Utah.  He LOVES the Utes.  So in honor of him, we all were decked out in Ute gear for his graveside service.  It was pretty neat to honor him in this way.

I love this beautiful scripture.  “Peace I leave with you, my peace I give unto you: not as the world giveth, give I unto you. Let not your heart be troubled, neither let it be afraid.” (John 14:27.)

Fun in the Rain

This last week we have enjoyed tons and tons of rain.. my most favorite weather ever.  We have had some HUGE rainstorms and parts of Utah have even had severe floods.  I have been in absolute heaven, and my kids have enjoyed it as well.  We are lucky to have a covered deck where we love to sit and watch and listen to the rain.  Here are my cute boys out watching the rain.  They have concerned faces because right before I took the picture.. there was some pretty loud thunder.  But they recovered quickly and enjoyed the rain again soon after.

The next morning we woke up to a huge rainstorm.  We kept our pajamas on, grabbed our rain boots and rain coats and headed out for some puddle splashing in the rain. Porter loves getting completely soaked in the rain, so this time he was nice in dry in my raincoat..haha.  We walked up and down our streets jumping in puddles all morning long.  We had so much fun!!

Bathtub Painting

Porter had been asking me for quite some time if he could play with something messy and fun..haha.  I found this recipe for bathtub paints online that I thought he could have a lot of fun with.  I put half of the paints in little ziplock bags and cut the edges so he could squirt them on the walls, and then put the other half in paper bowls so that him and Kaden could use their fingers to paint with them on the wall.  P8220037Needless to say, Porter had an absolute blast.  He just painted and painted and laughed and laughed and thought it was the most fun thing ever.  P8220038

Kaden on other hand, wasn’t quite as amused and only lasted a couple of minutes before he couldn’t handle being dirty anymore and just had to get out of the bathtub.  He is my clean little guy that doesn’t like to get messy..haha.  So Porter played and played and then when it was time to clean up, I put Kaden back in the bathtub.  This time he was happy because I gave him the shower sprayer and let him help spray off the paint.  He had a blast and sprayed and sprayed and ‘cleaned up’ for a long time.

Then Porter joined in on the fun and helped wash down all of the walls.  When we were all done, you would have never known what fun we had.

Porter’s 1st Day of Preschool

My beautiful Porter had his first day of Preschool on August 26th.  Can you believe that he is old enough for Preschool?  Ahhh.. I can’t believe how fast time flies.  I have been so emotional about him starting preschool.  I can’t even say how many times I have just started crying when thinking about it.  I am going to miss my little buddy so much when he is at school.  And this start of school starts many many more years of school and not at home with Mommy!  I know, I am selfish.  But I have to say that I am also so excited for him.  He is such an intelligent boy in every way and makes friends so easy.  I am so excited to watch him grow and learn and experience new things in school.  So happy for my little boy.

The morning of his first day he wanted pancakes.  So we made a special first day of school breakfast with mini pancakes just for him.  He was pretty excited about them.

The last couple of days before Porter’s 1st day, he had a lot of anxiety.  He kept telling me that he absolutely did not want to go to Preschool and that when he got to school, he was going to ‘just run home’…poor little guy.  But this morning he did FABULOUS.  When it was time to go to to Preschool he said, “Mom, today I am only a little bit nervous, but I am mostly excited”.  We first ran outside to take a couple of pictures for his first day of preschool.  Look at our handsome preschooler…aww..he just melts my heart.  I love him so much.

When we got this his preschool, we walked inside and he sat down and started playing with the other kids with no problems whatsoever.  He even waved goodbye to me when I left and just kept playing.  Here he is on his first day.

While Porter was at preschool, cute little Kaden and I hung out at the park.  It was fun spending some one on one time with this adorable little kid.  Kaden kept asking for Popo (Porter) the whole entire time.  I could tell that he was confused about where Porter was because Porter is usually always with him.  I told him that Porter was in preschool and he would say.. “Popo Peschoo” ..it was so cute.  When I gave him a treat he would say “Popo one” or when he swung on the swings..he pointed to the one that Porter usually swings on and said “Popo Swing”.  He loves his brother so much.

Before we knew it, it was time to pick up our little guy.  He ran out of his class, with a huge smile on his face, saying, “I love Preschool”.  He had a blast on his first day and can’t wait to go back.  We gave him his after school snacks..haha, and then headed to pick up Daddy at his work for some lunch.

We all went out for some Chinese food at The Golden Pheonix for lunch to celebrate Porter’s first day.  The food was delicious and we had a great time together.
