Summer Fun

Yay! Summertime is here, and we have definitely been having some water fun!! We got Porter's little pool out in the backyard and Porter LOVES it!! He can entertain himself for hours back there in the pool. It is always so much fun watching him splash and play!!

We have also been spending a lot of time at Liberty Park..our favorite summer place to play. Porter just LOVES the 7-Canyons there and it's a great way too cool down when it is HOT.

Porter Post

I can't get enough of my little guy! I have enjoyed all of the many stages of his life so far, but the stage he is in now is just SO MUCH FUN. I can't believe all that he is learning and doing and saying. He just amazes me everyday with how intelligent, handsome, sweet, energetic, etc. he is!! I could not ask for a more perfect little boy! He is the absolute best, and I am having so much fun being his Mommy. I just wanted to give a quick update on some of the cute things he is doing. The other day we were driving home from my Mom's house, and once we pulled off the freeway, he gave us the directions on how to get home..and he told us how to get home perfectly by telling us which way to turn..haha! What a smarty pants. He still does not like when we vacuum, and this is usually how he looks when the vacuum goes on. I have never met another child with as much personality as little Portie. He just BOOMS with personality. I remember before he was born, I told my Mom that I was so nervous that my child would be completely personality less..and boy was I wrong. He has enough energy for an army and LOVES being the center of attention, and just lights up the faces of everyone that he is around. His dancing skills are amazing to say the least and he just goes and goes and goes.

I love that he is so sensitive and I often find him cuddling his little stuffed animals, or rocking his toy dinosaurs to sleep. He will carefully pick up his little animals and say, "Mommy..this little baby animal is so cute..look at his smile.' And he still LOVES to cuddle on the couch with his blanket. His favorite moodee's (movies) right now are: Bambi, Lion King, Thomas the Train, and the Living Scriptures (Christ's Birth movie). He calls it the 'Jesus Moodee). I can't believe how well he is talking. I swear that he remembers EVERYTHING. He is so incredibly intelligent. It is so much fun that we can have conversations back and forth now and he understands pretty much everything. He LOVES to sing and has the sweetest singing voice. His favorite songs are: The ABC song, Down by the Bay, B-I-N-G-O, Head Shoulders, Knees, and Toes, I love to see the Temple. He has also been making up songs on his own recently which are so adorable and make me laugh. He never ever sings for the camera, so I haven't been able to get them on video..but I will keep trying to get creative so we can capture them. Yesterday, he sang Paul and I a song about a race car that went like this: Race car, Race car...goes so fast. Race car, Race car turn here, turn there. Race car, Race car goes beep..beep..beep. And then at the end of his song he would just start clapping his hands..haha. What a sweetheart. Porter is very creative and LOVES to paint, and color, play with stamps, make crafts, etc. And LOVES to get dirty..haha!
We have a special place that we have been going to play ever since we moved here when Porter was around 10 months. We love going down here and playing with the pinecones and kicking and throwing them. We probably do this about 3 times a week.
Porter LOVES going to Nursery..thank goodness, because it hasn't always been this way. I love checking on him during singing time because he is always the loudest one singing 'I'm a Child of God, and Popcorn popping on the apricot tree'. You can hear his cute little voice all the way out in the hall..hehe! :)
He has started having nightmares at night, and will come in our room usually about twice a night just crying. A couple of nights ago we asked him what was wrong and why he was crying and he said, "There is a HUGE scary monkey in my room". He has also thought there were snakes in his room, and worms in his bed, and giraffes under his bed..poor little guy! Hopefully these episodes don't last very long..poor kid. One last thing...last night I was washing up Porter in the bathtub, and when I was all done he looked at me and said, "Mamma, you forgot to wash my eyeballs..hahaha!!
So that is just a little update on some of the cute things that Porter is doing! I need to get better at recording them more often!

Family Fun

Porter and I, and my sister Natasha and her husband Colby went to my Dad's and Step-Mom's house for dinner a couple of weeks ago.

Paul had to work late that night, so he wasn't able to make it. Zuly made yummy Russian chicken salad and we had a lot of fun catching up with each other.

We also watched a lot of Natasha and Colby's slides from their trip to London! So much fun!! :-)

Gone Fishin'

Last Saturday, my in-laws invited us to go fishing at Bountiful Pond for the free fishing day. This pond is just about 5 minutes from our home, and I didn't even know that it existed.
Here is Clyde teaching Paul all of his fishing expertise.

It was Porter's first time fishing and Paul's Step Dad had a fishing pole just Porter's size. Porter LOVED it.
He was so cute with his little fishing pole pretending to catch the fish..haha. After just a couple of minutes of actual fishing, he broke the fishing line, but still had fun playing with the fishing pole.

After he was all done fishing he went to play in the mud and ended up face planting. He was pretty dirty after that. But he still had fun anyways.
He loved playing in the water a little bit trying to get some of the mud off. We didn't end up catching any fish, but had a wonderful morning. Thanks Clyde and Cheryl for inviting us, we had such a great time.

Utah Baby and Kidz Expo

Porter and I attended the Utah Baby and Kidz Expo at the South Towne Exposition Center and had a blast. There were tons of things for us to see and do and they had so many products and advice on baby and toddler products. Porter definitely thought the best part was playing in the bounce houses. When I first took him to play on them, he was scared and didn't want to try. He kept watching the kids go down a huge slide on one of the bounce houses, and he looked like he wanted to try, so I told him that I would come with him. After the first time he tried, he had so much fun that he went down probably 200 more times after that by himself.

We had a super fun day!
