My Baby Boy and Me
Its 3 am they're all asleep And no one's here to see
As we rock slowly back and forth
My Baby Boy and Me.
His little head is feather light tucked up against my chin
I hold his tiny hand in mine and stroke his baby skin.
The house about us creaks and groans the clock hands creep around
He snuggles closer to me still and makes his baby sounds.
I love these quiet hours so much and cherish every one
store memories up inside my heart for lonely nights to come.
All too soon he'll be grown up his need for Mama gone
but until then I still have time for kisses and for song.
Time for quiet hours like this with him cuddled in my arms
where I wish he'd always stay protected safe and warm.
And yet I know the day will come
when this tiny little hand will be much bigger than my own
he'll grow to be a man.
But until then he's mine to love with no one here to see
as we rock slowly back and forth my baby boy and me.
WOW! I can't believe that our little man is 1 month already!! I cannot believe how fast time flies! Words can't even describe how much happiness and joy we have felt since we received little Porter into our lives! It has been so much fun to watch him grow and develop and see his little personality starting to bloom! At his one month checkup we found out that he weighs 6lbs9oz and that he is 20 inches long which means that he has gained almost 2 pounds and grown 4 inches since he was born!! :) The doctor says that the amount of weight that he has gained so far is wonderful so we were really excited about that. Porter hasn't had it very easy this past month. We found out that he has colic (after taking him to the ER because of endless crying and hunching over in pain... makes for very long nights with a hurting tummy..poor guy), and has had the flu and a little cold. Hopefully he will start feeling better soon. Porter is so incredibly strong. He is able to move his head from side to side while on his tummy. He also loves to hold his head up, especially while lying on our shoulders. Porter went for his first walk yesterday in his new stroller and did extremely well. He is becoming more and more aware of his surroundings and loves lying on his back just wiggling and looking around. He recognizes voices and faces and gets excited when you talk to him. He makes the cutest little sounds. When you sit him on your lap he will stretch his legs out as if trying to stand. He hates baths so we will have to work on this! He is such a fun little baby. HAPPY ONE MONTH BIRTHDAY SWEETHEART! WE LOVE YOU SO MUCH PORTER!
What a wonderful weekend we had!! Paul's dad, Doug, lives in Idaho and hadn't met Porter until this weekend. 
This is Doug's first grandchild so he is pretty excited about that. He stayed with us from Thursday until Sunday and it was so much fun spending time with him. We had not seen Doug since August so we are so glad he came. Porter absolutely loved him and Doug was so cute with him. It was so much fun watching them bond. On Thursday night my family took my Mom out to eat at Chuck a rama for her bir
thday and that was a lot of fun!! On Friday Paul's sister Cerra spent the whole day with us and she held Porter THE WHOLE DAY!! She even changed his diaper numerous times throughout the day. What a life saver she is. Cerra is such an awesome aunt and Porter loves her so much! She is going to be the most wonderful Mom some day!! 
She is so extremely talented and comfortable with babies! We were all sad to see her go home that night. After Cerra left, we all stayed up talking with Doug. It was a lot of fun catching up with eachother. On Saturday afternoon Doug, Paul, Porter and I went on a picnic with Cerra and Dillon to Battle Creek Park. Cerra and Dillon brought the yummiest sandwiches and potatoe salad and we brought dr
inks and chips. It was Porters first picnic and first trip to the park and he did so well. He basically slept the whole time. Cerra was brave and brought our dog Maggie with us. She doesn't go in public places as much as she should and was a little too excited. Cerra and her dad were very good at trainig her to obey. After talking and eating for a while, we took family pictures!! Paul got a little bored and started making random funny faces.. but I think they turned out pretty good anyways. It was sad to see Doug leave Sunday morning, but we are so thankful that he was able to spend this time with us 
and Porter. We are excited that Doug is coming back down for Porters baby blessing in May.
