CRUISE TO THE CARRIBEAN - PROGRESSO

The second stop that we made while on our cruise, was to Progresso, Mexico.  The first thing that we did after stepping off our cruise ship was to book a day trip to an amazing  resort.  Here Paul and I are on the bus heading to the resort.  It was sad driving through this part of Mexico and seeing how poor all of the homes and buildings were.  They were basically shacks.  It was very sad.  But our tour guide was amazing and was very informative. 

We were all amazed when we saw the resort.  It was absolutely incredible. 

 It was an all-Inclusive Reef Club Beach Resort with open bar and Traditional Mexican Snack Buffet.   There were so many relaxing things to do.  You could lounge by the pool, walk along the secluded beach and sip yummy drinks in a hammock. We also had access to the poolside bar, lounge chairs, umbrellas, showers, volleyball, and kayaks. It was phenomenal.  Here we are relaxing in hammocks.  I could have sat in one all day.. so relaxing!!

One of my most favorite parts of the day was definitely kayaking with Natasha.  It was the most amazing feeling to kayak in the ocean.  The waves were so big and it was such a rush.  While we were out on our kayak, the waves started getting so big that we decided to head back.  Right after we turned our kayak in, they closed the kayak rentals down for a little bit because of the high waves.  It was so amazing.  I loved the thrill of kayaking. 

I can’t even begin to describe swimming in the ocean here.  The water was at least 80 degrees.  So warm and relaxing.  I have never swam in such a warm ocean before.  It was incredible.  And the sand here was so white and so soft.  It was seriously what dreams are made of.   It was amazing to see how green the water was here, compared to how blue the water was in Cozumel.  I love the ocean so much.  Here Paul and I are in the ocean

Any beach we go to, Paul always wants to spend a little while searching for seashells.  He was so cute combing the shoreline for seashells.

Then we went to enjoy an unlimited open bar featuring domestic drinks and beers as well as water and sodas and the traditional Mexican Snack Buffet including empanadas, chicken fajitas, nachos, and even had some American items such as hotdogs and hamburgers.  We ate and ate and ate until we dropped dead.  And we tried almost every virgin drink on the menu!  Yummy!  Not a lot of foods are better than real Mexican food. 

We were so sad when we heard our tour guide announce that it was time to head back to the bus!   Our beach life was over!  Here we are back on the bus heading back to the cruise ship.

These huge barricades were everywhere lining the ocean and we found out that they are in case of hurricanes and big storms to prevent the water from flooding the city.

And here we are back on the cruise ship!

What an absolutely, amazing memory filled day!
