4th of July

Aww… the Fourth of July.  This has to be one of my most favorite holidays.  I am so incredibly grateful for this beautiful land in which we live.  So grateful for the men and women who have sacrificed so much to make our country what it is today.  I love America.  LAND OF THE FREE.. HOME OF THE BRAVE!!

Bright and early on the 4th of July, Paul and Porter were already outside lighting off fireworks.  To say that Paul loves fireworks and blowing up things would be a complete understatement.  Besides me and our children (hopefully..haha), Paul’s most favorite thing in the world would be fireworks.  One of this years early morning experiments was blowing up an apple.  It worked awesome and Porter thought that was the coolest thing to watch ever.

You can’t really see it very good, but here is what was left of the apple, with the blown up pieces of apple all over our fence…haha.

When Paul and Porter were done blowing things up, we had our 4th of July breakfast where we made American flag french toast.  The turned cute and tasty and the boys loved them.

And then after breakfast guess what Paul and Porter did?  Back outside for more firework fun.  It was fun watching them having so much fun together.

Then the boys made some very cute 4th of July t-shirts for them to wear to the 4th of July barbecue that we had that night.  They were so so cute making their shirts.

Here the boys are decorating the back of their shirts.  Porter said that he was painting the biggest 4th of July fireworks ever.  He was so excited about them.  Kaden was in heaven just going to town with the paints.  He was pretty covered himself when he was finished.

The night of the 4th, we had a barbecue and firework show at our house.  It was so much fun spending time with our family.  Look at these cute little cousins!!  They are such good friends and so adorable together.

And Paul was our griller for the night.  He cooked up some amazing hotdogs, sausages and hamburgers.  Yummy!!  Great job babe!

And here is the rest of our dinner for the night.  Mmmm.. it sure was delicious.  Hopefully everyone enjoyed it as much as I did.  Here’s some cute pictures of our dinner guests.  Best dinner company ever.

And then for the part that everyone was excited for…FIREWORKS.  Paul and I and the kids drove up to Wyoming to get TONS of fireworks this year.  We got some pretty good deals up there and it is a fun tradition that we try and do every year.  To start out with the kids did their Pop’its for a while.  Even Kaden was doing some..haha, so cute.

Then it was time for sparklers.  The kids had fun with them, but I think the adults had more fun..haha! Smile

And then for Paul’s firework show.  We made these little licorice bundles for everyone to snack on while they enjoyed the fireworks.

Here is our cute little crew enjoying the firework show.

Haha.. I can’t get over how adorable little Kaden’s face is in the picture!!  We didn’t know how Kaden would react to the fireworks this year.  He didn’t cry at all.  A couple of times, he jumped a little because of the loud noise, but I think they were very interesting to him.

Porter absolutely LOVED them.  He had a total blast the whole time.

These fireworks were Porter’s and Elsa’s favorite because after they shot up and exploded, a little army guy on a parachute would fall down.  So fun!

Elsa thought some of the fireworks were too loud and a little scary.  Porter was so cute because he said, “Elsa, come over here..don’t worry, I will protect you”.  What a sweetheart taking care of his cousin.
