Porter had a lot of fun participating in red ribbon week at his school last month. For those of you that don’t know about red ribbon week. Red ribbon week is the oldest and largest drug prevention campaign in the country. Red Ribbon Week generally takes place the last full week in October. Red Ribbon Week serves as a vehicle for communities and individuals to take a stand for the hopes and dreams of our children through a commitment to drug prevention and education and a personal commitment to live drug free lives with the ultimate goal being the creation of drug free America.
Every day of the week had some sort of ‘fun day’ for Red ribbon week.
Monday: WEAR RED DAY
Tuesday: WEAR CAMO DAY. Porter also entered a pumpkin decorating contest this day. Paul helped him and together they came up with a pretty fancy pumpkin..haha. Porter was excited and had a lot of fun decorating him.
Wednesday: Crazy hair day. So Porter told me that he wanted to have scary hair for crazy hair day..haha. So Monster hair was the best thing I could come up with. Porter was really excited about it. The first thing though that his teacher said to me when she saw Porter was, “Wow..he looks just like a peacock..” Haha.. that is not necessarily what we were going for..haha. After school she told me that during class that day, he would turn around to his classmates and say ‘boo’ showing them his hair to try and scare them.. whoops, it was a little more distracting then I thought it would be. But he had fun with it!
Here is Porter with his friend Levi on crazy hair day
Thursday was the last school day of the week and the kids got to have a Halloween parade and wear their costumes to school. It was a lot of fun watching Porter and his classmates in the parade. Afterwards, I was able to volunteer with the Halloween party in Porter’s classroom. He had a wonderful day! So glad that I could be there with him. It was fun to get to know his teacher and his classmates a little better.
Here comes Porter parading down the hall!
And here is Porter’s teacher, Mrs. Haslam. I still can’t get over her last name..haha. We are so grateful that Porter got such a wonderful teacher for his first year of school. We really really really like her. And Porter absolutely adores her.

Kaden got to decorate Halloween cookies with Porter. He was so excited about it
So glad Porter had such a fun week at school!
