17 Mai

Syttende Mai (17th of May) is the Norwegian Independence Day.  Every year we celebrate it with our family by attending the Norwegian Celebration at the International Peace Gardens in Salt Lake City.  This is a big deal for us because it is the only time during the whole year that we can drink the yummy Norwegian drink ‘solo’, and eat Norwegian hotdogs wrapped in a delicious soft bread (polser med lompe).  It is so much fun to remember our Norwegian culture.  Here we are enjoying our yummy Norwegian food.  Mmmmm!!

The kids were super excited for the Norwegian parade this year.  They were so cute marching with their Norwegian flags.

My Mom also went all out with the most amazing Norwegian dinner.  We had so many delicious Norwegian food and treats.  Mmm.. we were all in heaven.  Thanks so much Mom!!  You are the best!  Such a fun tradition!!

I am so grateful for our Norwegian heritage.  So glad that my children can experience a little bit of Norway here.  Can’t wait until we get a chance to visit Norway again.  Porter has been lucky enough to have gone twice already.. but my other boys haven’t been yet.. I think that means a vacation should be in the planning! Smile  Hope that all of my family and friends here and in Norway had a wonderful Syttende Mai! Smile
