General Conference Fun

I am always so very excited for Conference! No matter what is going on in my life, the Lord always answers my prayers and gives me guidance for my current needs through the words of His modern-day Prophets and Apostles. I love it!  The hard part sometimes, it being able to listen to the speakers while my 3 kids run around the house wildly.  So this conference, we tried to come up with a couple of ideas to help our kids get excited about conference and help them sit still and listen to at least a couple of the talks.  We started out the morning before conference with talking a little bit about our prophet and then making prophet pancakes.  The boys were so excited.  We hung up a little picture of the prophet and then they tried to duplicate the picture as best as they could.  Their prophet pancakes turned out adorable and they sure had a lot of fun. 

Then we shared the story of Kind Benjamin with the boys and how he gathered his people (Mosiah 2:1-9).  Everyone was called to gather at the temple to listen to the king before he died.  There were so many people that King Benjamin couldn’t teach them from within the walls of the temple grounds so he had a tall tower built that he could stand on.  People pitched tents all around the temple, facing their doorways towards the temple and where the tower had been built.  Then they got their entire family together, from the oldest to the youngest members, to listen to what King Benjamin had to say.   King Benjamin wanted to make sure EVERYONE heard what he had to say.  And then Paul helped the boys ‘pitch their tent’ and we turned it towards the TV to listen to our modern day prophets.  We then printed out some cute conference packets for the boys to work on during conference.  They thought it was pretty neat.  And the 2 eldest boys actually held still during the whole first session of conference.  It was wonderful. 

I loved conference so much!!  So incredibly grateful for our beloved prophet, Thomas S. Monson and his apostles and leaders.  I am already counting down the days until next conference!
